We are pleased to announce a special evening of music from two incredible prog bands: New York based Circuline and IO Earth who hail from Birmingham.
What do you get when you take two theatrical lead vocalists, a keyboard player from Juilliard, a jazz-rock genius on guitar, a bass player from Monster Island, and a drummer with progressive rock in his DNA? The modern cinematic ProgRock band Circuline.
Performing original cinematic progressive rock, Circuline was founded in 2014 when former progressive rock tribute band Downing Grey members Andrew Colyer (keyboards, vocals), Bill Shannon (guitars, vocals), and Darin Brannon (drums, percussion) had a burning desire to write original material. Lead vocalists Billy Spillane and Natalie Brown were up for the challenge, having performed in countless venues as singers, actors, dancers, and rock musicians. New guitarist Beledo (as of January 2016) brings a whole new dimension to the band's compositions and live performances.
Having toured the US throughout 2016, we are pleased to welcome Circuline to our stage for a rare UK performance.
Headlining re IO Earth who have been billed as “One of the most eclectic and pioneering bands of the 21st century”. IO Earth is a Symphonic Rock, Art Rock, Progressive Rock Band that seamlessly blends styles like Rock, Ambient, Jazz, Classical, World, Dance, Progressive Rock, Celtic, Folk, Contemporary, Metal, Crossover Prog many more.
The band was formed by Dave Cureton and Adam Gough who each master guitars, keys, bass and vocals.
Dave and Adam have put together an incredibly strong group of musicians to accompany their guitars and keys and through the complexity of their music, each band member having the opportunity to showcase their talents. The biggest additions to the ensemble being Christian Nokes on bass, Linda Odinsen (vocalist at IO Earth untill 2016, now replaced by Rosanna Lefevre in 2017) and Luke Shingler bringing in layers of sax and flute. Christian Jerromes on drums and Jez King as added violinist and guitar. The group now consists of seven musicians.
At Cruise To The Edge 2014, they debuted three songs from the upcoming release. The title track, "New World", a startlingly unique and energetic rock tune, "Journey To Discovery" and a powerful guitar ballad called "The Rising". All three tune were received with excitement and enthusiasm by the crowds and if they are anything to go by, "New World" will be breaking New Ground once again for this genre defying duo and their cohorts. If you only see one Progressive Rock gig this year, make it IO Earth. You will not be disappointed!
